Our registered and certified city guides possess extensive knowledge and share all the essential stories of the city’s past, and are, of course, highly trained and accomplished in the art of storytelling. Frederik Melchior, founder of ODYSEA, has a 30 years long background in partnership marketing, sponsorship, and fundraising, with proven experience in storytelling, branding and public affairs across the public sector, social impact organizations, and cultural institutions.

Specialized in helping organizations and individuals find their personal “on-switch”: leading with heart and intuition, crafting clear and distinctive narratives using motivation-based methods and TED-style techniques to engage and seduce audiences, which eventually led to very essential skills while sailing and hosting groups of guests during the history tours.

A true Amsterdam native, deeply inspired by the city’s history, character, and endless stories. Strongly driven by social relevance and impact, contributing to initiatives such as Plastic Whale Foundation, the Johan Cruyff Foundation, and politically active for a European party. Lifelong connection to water and watersports, with over ten years’ experience as a sailing and windsurfing instructor, coach and educator for the Royal Dutch Watersports Association.
